African Dominican Sisters

undefinedWe are Dominican Missionary Sisters,
women of various nationalities and cultures.
Aware of our dignity and giftedness,
we create life-giving, participative communities.
We are energized by contemplation and study of the Word of God.
We engage in a common search for the truth about God, ourselves and
the world. We preach by our life and service, and are a prophetic presence,
witnessing to and proclaiming the Good News of God’s love, of justice and reconciliation, compassion and hope.
We live Gospel values faithfully and take risks, as we challenge abuse of power, materialism and individualism in ourselves and others.
We make efforts to honour and care for the earth,
to alleviate porverty, and to promote all that supports life.
Through diverse apostolates, and in collaboration with others,
we commit ourselves to be of service to
and share the concerns of people, especially those at risk.
Together we create an environment
which empowers all to find meaning, healing and wholeness of life.

We are an international Congregation of Catholic Sisters
women of contemplation and action, proclaiming the Good News of a God who loves and calls us.

We are engaged in health, education, media, social and pastoral work in Africa, Latin America and Europe, co-ordinated by the sisters of the Generalate, Gossops Green, Crawley, UK.

Our mission is to bring Good News, hope and healing to those in greatest need.

We are engaged in Education
formal school education from Pre-school to A-level, lecturing at universities and working with others to provide various forms of adult education, in Colombia, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, England and Germany. We teach either in our own schools, diocesan or State schools. We also teach the deaf and the blind.

We care for
the sick and elderly, the vulnerable, orphans and the disadvantaged in most of the six countries. We are involved in many projects helping people with HIV and AIDS, one of our priorities.

We attend to social and pastoral needs
by counselling and spiritual direction. We are involved in social projects, and we work for Justice and Peace.

We evangelize in all these different ways  through our presence, hospitality and ministries.
